Day 2

Woke up to a super English Breakfast! After a very short (compared to yesterday) drive to Grahamstown we were warmly greeted by our hosts St Andrews Prep. We had a light practice session before lunch, which gave us a chance to get our legs loose and our eyes in. It was then off to the respective fields for the much anticipated match 1.

In the B game we fielded first and after some tight bowling (Ivor - 3 wks and Alex Shone 2 wks) and sharp fielding we restricted them to 108/9 after 25 overs. We then went in to bat and had a solid start with Ivor Taverner scoring 19 runs and Sam Stevens 15 not out. In the end we came up 29 runs short, but we will lift our heads up high and live to fight on tomorrow.

The A game started in a similar fashion with St Andrew batting first and scoring 104/7 in 25 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Andrew Dicey - 3 wks for 27 runs and Luca Schwarte 4 overs for only 9 runs. We then went in to bat. Cameron Shepherd - 51 and supported by Josh van Marken set up a good foundation. We then lost 2 quick wickets before Andrew Dicey -11 and Doug Kerkmann -14 steadied the ship and saw us home to a 8 wicket victory.

Pictures to follow later.

  1. Well done chaps. Great to see the A game get a win and the B game been so competitively played. Well done Andrew Dicey - I only hope that your Uncle Bruce, Mom and Gramp don't celebrate too much tonight ;-)
